The Future Is Happening Today: AI - What's Next is Now
Kristin Kautz, CPSM
12 noon - 1 p.m. PST, Wed, Nov. 29

AI has dropped a bomb on the public lexicon in the past few months. Suddenly it is everywhere, and you don’t know what you don’t know. If you are feeling curious, lost, or even left behind, you are not alone. How do you wade through the technology, keep updated on every advancement happening at light speed, and most importantly, understand how it impacts you, your job, and your business?

This seminar will explore AI 101, what it is, and what you should know, including its inherent problems and emerging opportunities. We will outline the most significant ways that AI is going to affect your business from top to bottom, in every corner of your organizational chart throughout leadership, management, HR, accounting, legal, and marketing. We will also share the results from our latest AI survey and provide recommendations for immediate next steps.  Whatever you think is next is actually already here. The future is happening today.

Kristin Kautz, CPSM is an experienced marketer with over 25 years of expertise in B2B, non-profit, and architecture, engineering, and construction. With a passion for innovation and technology, Kristin has become a leading expert in AI for the built environment, helping companies implement and maximize AI in their business.

Harnessing AI Potential in Engineering: Training, Applications, and Beyond
Dr. Murat Melek, SE
12 noon - 1 p.m. PST, Wed., Dec. 6

The year 2023 has marked an extraordinary surge in interest for Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, primarily fueled by the advancements in Large Language Models (LLM) like ChatGPT. In our upcoming presentation, we aim to provide a high-level overview of the AI and Machine Learning landscape, including but not limited to predictive models, computer vision, and LLMs. We'll explore potential use cases in civil and structural engineering, discussing how we can integrate these technologies into our everyday practice. Moreover, we'll identify the essential skills needed to effectively leverage these tools, and deliberate on how we can best adjust our internal training programs and staffing strategies.

Dr. Murat Melek, SE,
is the Director of Artificial Intelligence at Suffolk Construction.  He has more than 15 years of industry experience, most recently as a Structural Engineer and Data Scientist at Walter P Moore.  He holds a Ph.D. in Structural Engineering from UCLA and a Master's degree in Data Science from UC Berkeley. Some of his significant projects include the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi in collaboration with Frank Gehry, and the Basaksehir Pine and Sakura City Hospital in Turkey - the world's largest base-isolated building. He is committed to utilizing data-centric design and management techniques to cultivate sustainable, resilient, and cost-effective structures.

The Exponential Decade: AI from Design to Planning to Project Management
KP Reddy
12 noon - 1:15 p.m. PST, Wed, Dec. 13

In this captivating talk, innovation provocateur KP Reddy will help us explore the transformative power of artificial intelligence (AI) in revolutionizing the AEC industry. The disruption is here as we stand on the precipice of an "exponential decade," marked by technological advancements and increasing demands for sustainable, efficient, and cost-effective construction, AI emerges as a game-changer... or does it?

This talk delves into the various applications of AI across the construction lifecycle, from design and planning to project management and maintenance.  Join us as we unravel the untapped opportunities AI presents, from enhanced safety measures and optimized resource allocation to intelligent automation and predictive analytics. Discover how AI-powered technologies like computer vision, machine learning, and robotics are reshaping the construction landscape, enabling faster project delivery, improved productivity, and heightened sustainability. We'll also explore the potential challenges and ethical considerations that come with integrating AI into construction processes.

By embracing AI's potential and harnessing its capabilities, you can forge a future where your projects are not only completed with greater efficiency but also leave a lasting positive impact on our environment.
